Must Read
Now, you might be thinking, "But she looked so young! How could she be 36?" Well, my friend, that's the magic of cinema. Catherine was already a seasoned actress by then, having started her career in the late 70s. She had honed her comedic chops on SCTV and had even worked with director Chris Columbus before on The Goonies.
Age is Just a Number
You know, it's funny how we often associate certain ages with specific life stages. When we think of 36, we might think of someone who's established, maybe even a bit serious. But Catherine O'Hara, at 36, was anything but. She was a comedic powerhouse, bringing her unique brand of humor to the screen and stealing every scene she was in.
And let's not forget, she was playing a mother of four, which, in the movie's universe, meant she was supposed to be in her late 30s or early 40s. So, in a way, she was playing a character close to her own age. Talk about method acting, huh?

And hey, if you're feeling curious about the rest of the cast, here's a fun fact: Macaulay Culkin, our favorite little troublemaker, Kevin, was just 10 years old when the movie was released. Isn't that something?
