So, I was binge-watching Stranger Things the other day, right? I mean, who isn't? And there I was, munching on popcorn, when it hit me - how old is Jonathan Byers in Season 5? I mean, the kid's been through more than most adults, and he's still just a teenager! But how old is he, exactly?

Now, I know what you're thinking. "Dude, it's not like they put his age in the opening credits." And you're right, they don't. But that didn't stop me from doing a little digging. After all, I've got time on my hands, and I'm nosy. I'm guessing you're nosy too, or you wouldn't be here, right?

Let's Talk Ages

First things first, let's establish when Stranger Things takes place. The show is set in the 80s, but we all know it's really set in our hearts. Each season covers a year, starting in 1983 with Season 1. So, by the time we get to Season 5, we're looking at 1987.

Now, Jonathan Byers was born on March 8, 1971. That's according to the official Stranger Things wiki, and I've got no reason to doubt it. So, let's do some math. If it's 1987, and Jonathan was born in 1971, that makes him...

16 years old

Yep, you heard it here first. Well, maybe not first, but I'm saying it now. Jonathan Byers is 16 years old in Season 5. Can you believe it? The kid's got more courage than some grown-ups I know, and he's still a teenager!

But here's where it gets interesting. You know how in the show, time passes differently in the Upside Down? Well, I started thinking, maybe time passes differently for Jonathan too. I mean, the kid's been through some serious stuff. Maybe he's aging faster than we think.

I know, I know, it's a stretch. But hey, it's not like we're dealing with normal here. We're dealing with the Upside Down, Demogorgons, and Eleven's psychokinetic powers. So, who knows? Maybe Jonathan's actually older than we think. Maybe he's like, 18. Or 20. Or maybe he's just really mature for his age.

Growing Up in the Upside Down

Seriously though, Jonathan's been through a lot. He's seen his friends disappear, his sister turn into a super-powered teenager, and his town overrun by monsters. He's been chased, threatened, and had his life turned upside down (literally). So, even if he's only 16, he's got the emotional maturity of someone much older.

And let's not forget, he's a photographer. He's got a passion, a talent, and he's using it to tell stories. That's something a lot of adults can't say they do. So, maybe age is just a number. Maybe it's about what you've experienced, what you've learned, and what you've accomplished.

But hey, that's just my two cents. What do you think? Is Jonathan older than he looks? Younger? Or is he just the perfect age to be fighting Demogorgons and saving the world? Let me know in the comments. I'm always up for a good Stranger Things debate.

Until next time, keep your doors locked, your lights on, and your Eggo waffles close. We never know when the Upside Down might come knocking. And remember, age is just a number. It's what you do with it that counts.
