How Old Is Jonathan In Stranger Things Season 5

So, How Old is Jonathan in Stranger Things Season 5?

Alright, fellow '80s nostalgia enthusiasts, let's dive into the Upside Down for a sec and chat about our favorite photographer, Jonathan Byers. You know, the one who's always got his camera ready, capturing those eerie moments in Hawkins. But first, grab a cup of coffee (or a can of New Coke, if you're feeling retro), 'cause we're about to get cozy and talk age.

Now, if you're like me, you've been binge-watching Stranger Things since it first hit our screens. And if you're really like me, you've been wondering, "How old is Jonathan, anyway?" I mean, it's not like they hand out birth certificates in the Upside Down, right?

So, let's rewind a bit. When we first met Jonathan, he was a brooding, angst-ridden teen, snapping pics of his sister Nancy and her friends. That was back in season one, which was set in 1983. Jonathan was 16 then, the same age as his on-screen sister, Nancy.

Now, we're all caught up with season four, which aired in 2022. That's a whole nine years later in the real world, but in the show's timeline, only a few months have passed since the events of season three. So, Jonathan's still a teenager, right? Wrong!

Here's where it gets a bit tricky. The actors have been aging in real life, of course. Charlie Heaton, who plays Jonathan, was born in 1994, making him 28 in 2022. But Jonathan? Well, he's still just 17 in the show's timeline. Confused yet? Let me put it this way - Jonathan's been stuck in a time warp, just like the poor folks of Hawkins.

Why Should You Care?

You might be thinking, "Who cares how old Jonathan is? I'm just here for the Demogorgons and Eggos!" And you're not wrong. But bear with me, 'cause there's a method to my madness.

Stranger Things Season 5 Brings Back 12 Characters from Season 1

See, Jonathan's age is a bit of a running joke in the fandom. We've all been watching these kids grow up on screen, and it's been a wild ride. But it's also a reminder of how much we've all grown with them. I mean, when we started watching, some of us were teens ourselves. Now, we're all adults, and Jonathan's still a teen. It's like he's our collective youth, frozen in time.

Plus, Jonathan's age is a big part of his character arc. He's the kid who was always on the outskirts, looking in. His age has a lot to do with that - he's still figuring out who he is, still trying to find his place in the world. And as we watch him struggle, we're reminded of our own teenage years, aren't we?

So, there you have it. Jonathan Byers is 17 years old in Stranger Things season five. And even though we're all dying to know what happens next, let's take a moment to appreciate how far we've come with these characters. After all, they've been a part of our lives for nearly a decade now. And isn't that something worth caring about?

Now, go forth and enjoy season five (whenever it finally drops). And remember, no matter how old we get, there's always a little bit of Jonathan Byers in all of us.
