Blowing Out Candles: The Prince's Age in Cinderella
Ever wondered how old Prince Charming is in Cinderella? It's not as straightforward as you'd think. Let's dive into the fairytale and find out!
Once Upon a Time...
In the original tale by Charles Perrault, published in 1697, there's no mention of the Prince's age. But let's assume he's old enough to rule a kingdom. So, he's at least 18, right?
In Disney's 1950 animated classic, the Prince is a dashing young man. But again, no age is given. Let's say he's in his early 20s, ready to take on the world (and find a wife).

Modern Takes
In the 2015 live-action movie, the Prince is played by Richard Madden. He was 29 when the film was released. But remember, he's playing a character who's probably been around for a few versions of the story. So, he's likely older in the story's timeline.
And what about the Prince in Cinderella III: A Twist in Time, the 2007 direct-to-video sequel? He's voiced by Chris Egan, who was 28 at the time. But this story takes place after the original, so he's likely in his early 30s by now.
Why Does It Matter?
It doesn't, really. But it's fun to speculate! And it's interesting to see how the Prince's age has changed over time, reflecting societal norms and expectations.
