So, there I was, standing in line at the local record store - yes, I'm that old, we still had those back in the day - and I was waiting to get my hands on the latest Motley Crue album. I was a teenager, all hormones and hairspray, and I was ready to rock. The guy in front of me turns around, and I swear, he was the spitting image of Vince Neil, the lead singer of my favorite band. I did a double-take, but it wasn't him. I mean, it could have been, right? He was that old. But I digress.
That got me thinking, how old is Vince Neil anyway? I mean, I've been listening to his music since I was a kid, and he's always been this larger-than-life figure, screaming his lungs out on stage. But what's his actual age? Let's dive in, shall we?
Born in the 50s, Rocking in the 80s
Vince Neil, born as Vincent Neil Wharton, was born on February 8, 1961, in Hollywood, California. Yes, you read that right. He's a true born-and-bred LA boy. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Wow, he's older than my parents!" Well, maybe. But remember, he started his rock 'n' roll journey when he was just a teenager, so he's been around the block a few times.
Must Read
He co-founded Motley Crue in 1981, when he was just 20 years old. That's right, he's been rocking out with the band for over four decades now. Can you imagine being in a band for that long? That's like, what, 147 years in rock 'n' roll time? I can't even keep a houseplant alive for that long.
Age is Just a Number, Right?
Now, you might be thinking, "Sure, he's been around for a long time, but how old is he really?" Well, as of 2022, Vince Neil is 61 years old. Yes, you read that right. Sixty-one. And he's still going strong, still touring, still singing, still being the wild and crazy Vince Neil we all know and love.
But here's the thing, age is just a number, right? I mean, look at him. He's still got that rock 'n' roll swagger, that rebellious streak. He's still the same Vince Neil who sang "Live Wire" and "Shout at the Devil". He's still the same Vince Neil who crashed his car into a house (yes, that really happened). He's still the same Vince Neil who's been through it all and come out the other side, still rockin'.
Motley Crue Vince Neil
Still Kicking Ass and Taking Names
So, what's Vince Neil up to these days? Well, he's still touring with Motley Crue, of course. They're currently on their Stadium Tour with Def Leppard, Poison, and Joan Jett. That's right, he's still out there, giving it his all, night after night. And let me tell you, he sounds just as good as he did back in the day. I saw them last year, and I was blown away. The man's got pipes, I'll give him that.
And he's not just about the music. He's also a businessman, with his own line of vodka, "Tequila Rose". He's a philanthropist, too, supporting various charities, including the Skylar Neil Memorial Foundation, named after his late daughter. He's a man of many talents, that's for sure.
So, there you have it. Vince Neil is 61 years old, and he's still kicking ass and taking names. He's a true rock 'n' roll legend, and he's not slowing down anytime soon. And you know what? I hope he never does. Here's to you, Vince. Keep on rockin' in the free world.
