Elvis & Priscilla: A Tale of Young Love

Alright, gather 'round, folks. We're about to dive into the rock 'n' roll love story of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley. Now, you might be thinking, "Wasn't Elvis, like, ancient when he married her?" Well, let's find out, shall we?

Love at First Sight (Sort Of)

Picture this: it's 1963, and young Priscilla is just 14 years old, hanging out with her family in Germany. Elvis, on the other hand, is a 28-year-old global superstar, serving in the US Army. They meet, sparks fly (well, maybe not immediately, but hey, this is Elvis we're talking about), and they start writing letters. Lots of letters.

Now, I don't know about you, but when I was 14, I was still trying to figure out how to work my mom's curling iron. Priscilla, though? She's already capturing the heart of the King of Rock 'n' Roll. Talk about starting young!

From Letters to Love Letters

Fast forward a couple of years, and Elvis is back in the States, Priscilla is 17, and they're officially an item. Now, I'm not saying Elvis was a cradle-robber (okay, maybe a little), but hey, love is love, right?

They spend more time together, and by 1967, Elvis is ready to make it official. He's 32, Priscilla is 21. Still a bit of an age gap, but not as crazy as it was a few years back.

The Big Day

So, on May 1, 1967, they tie the knot in a private ceremony in Las Vegas. Elvis is 32, Priscilla is 21. Now, I know what you're thinking: "Wow, that's quite the age difference!" But remember, this is the guy who brought us "Hound Dog" and "Jailhouse Rock". He was never one to follow the rules.

And let's not forget, back in the day, people got married younger. My grandma was 18 when she got hitched, and she's still going strong at 90. So, maybe it wasn't so unusual after all.

Life Goes On

Anyway, Elvis and Priscilla had a daughter, Lisa Marie, in 1968, and they lived happily (ish) ever after. Well, until their divorce in 1973. But that's a story for another time.

So there you have it, folks. Elvis was 32 when he married Priscilla. Not too shabby, huh? Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got some letters to write. Maybe I'll find my own King of Rock 'n' Roll. (Or at least, a guy who can work my mom's old curling iron.)
