So, you know how we were just chatting about old Hollywood, and I mentioned Lucille Ball? You know, the redhead who made us laugh till our sides split with I Love Lucy? Well, I got to thinking, "How old would Lucy be today?"

I mean, it's not like we can just whip out our phones and ask her, right? (Though can you imagine if we could? "Hey Lucy, what's your secret to making chocolate candy without breaking the factory?")

Anyway, back to the point. Lucille Ball was born on August 6, 1911. That's right, 1911! She'd be celebrating her 110th birthday this year if she were still with us. 110! That's like, what, three score and ten, plus another thirty? (I always wanted to say that. I feel like a Shakespearean character now.)

Now, I know what you're thinking. "But how can that be? She doesn't look a day over 90 in those old episodes!" Well, friend, that's the magic of Hollywood. And good genes, probably. I mean, the woman was a redhead. You know redheads have a secret fountain of youth, right? (Or is that just something I made up?)

But seriously, folks, let's do some math here. If Lucy were alive today, she'd be older than the Eiffel Tower. (Okay, maybe not that old, but you get the idea.) She'd be older than sliced bread. (Well, maybe not that old either, but still. You get the picture.)

And you know what? I like to think she'd still be making us laugh. Maybe she'd be on one of those streaming services, doing a show about a woman who accidentally becomes a viral sensation on social media. (I mean, have you seen her try to sell Vitameatavegamin? That's basically a TikTok challenge, right?)

Or maybe she'd be living it up in a retirement home, telling stories about Desi and the gang, and still making everyone laugh with her antics. (I can just see her now, trying to hide a chocolate sundae from the nurses, saying, "I think we're all pretty, aren't we, girls?")

But alas, we can only imagine Lucy's 110th birthday party. (And if you're imagining her dancing with a giant, inflatable rubber chicken, well, you're not alone.)

So, here's to you, Lucy. Happy 110th! We still love you. And we still laugh. Thanks for the memories, and for teaching us all that laughter is the best medicine. (Even if it does sometimes get us into a little trouble.)
