Ever wondered how old the members of Earth, Wind & Fire are? You're not alone! This legendary band has been around for what feels like forever, and it's hard not to be curious about their ages. So, let's dive in and find out, shall we?
Let's Start with the Oldest
At the helm of Earth, Wind & Fire is the founding member and lead singer, Maurice White. Now, Maurice is a bit of a mystery because he's been out of the public eye for a while due to his battle with Parkinson's disease. But, as of 2021, he would have been 80 years old if he were still with us. That's like being as old as the Eiffel Tower, which was built in 1889!
Meet the Middle-Agers
Next up, we have Verdine White, Maurice's younger brother, who's been the band's bassist since day one. Verdine is a bit younger than Maurice, and as of 2021, he would have been 70 years old. That's like being as old as the first ever feature film, "The Great Train Robbery," which was made in 1903!
Must Read
Another "middle-aged" member is Philip Bailey, the band's lead vocalist and percussionist. Philip joined the band in 1970 and has been a staple ever since. As of 2021, he would have been 69 years old. That's like being as old as the first ever Olympic Games, which were held in Athens in 1896!
And the Youngest...
Now, you might be thinking, "Wow, those guys are old!" But hold on, because we've got some younger members too! Ralph Johnson, the band's original percussionist, is the youngest of the original members. As of 2021, he would have been 68 years old. That's like being as old as the first ever McDonald's restaurant, which opened in 1940!
And finally, we have Al McKay, the band's original guitarist. Al joined the band a bit later, in 1973, but he's still been around for a good chunk of time. As of 2021, he would have been 72 years old. That's like being as old as the first ever traffic light, which was installed in London in 1868!
