How Old Was Finn Wolfhard When Filming It

So, there I was, scrolling through my Instagram feed the other day, when I stumbled upon a picture of Finn Wolfhard. Now, I've seen this kid grow up on screen, from his Stranger Things days to his more recent projects. But this picture, it made me pause and think, "How old is this guy now?"

You know, it's funny how we often forget that our favorite actors and actresses are just that - actors. They're not frozen in time, stuck in the roles we first fell in love with. They grow up, just like we do. And that got me wondering, how old was Finn Wolfhard when he was filming the first season of Stranger Things?

Back to the Upside Down

Let's rewind to 2015, the year Stranger Things first hit our screens. Finn Wolfhard, our beloved Mike Wheeler, was just a kid. A kid with a mop of hair and a love for Dungeons & Dragons, much like his character. But how old was he?

Well, my curious friends, Finn Wolfhard was born on December 23, 2002. So, when he started filming the first season of Stranger Things, he was just 12 years old. Yes, you read that right. Twelve. The same age as his character, Mike.

Growing Up on Screen

Now, I don't know about you, but that blows my mind. I mean, here we were, watching this kid navigate the Upside Down, and he was basically still a kid himself. It's like we were all watching him grow up, right alongside Mike.

And grow up he did. By the time the third season aired in 2019, Finn was 16. That's four whole years of growing up, on screen. It's no wonder we feel so connected to these characters. We've watched them, and their actors, evolve right before our eyes.

From Mike Wheeler to Real-Life Teen

But Finn's not just Mike anymore. He's grown up, both on and off screen. He's played Richie Tozier in IT, directed a few short films, and even started his own band, Calpurnia. He's a teenager navigating the real world, just like the rest of us.

And you know what? That's pretty cool. It's a reminder that our favorite actors are just people, growing up and changing, right alongside us. So, the next time you're watching Stranger Things, remember, that was Finn at 12. He's 18 now, and he's come a long way since the Upside Down.

Anyway, I've gotta go. I've got some binge-watching to do. Until next time, folks!
